"Thanka " is a tibetan word which has come out of "than-sku" , which means an embodiment painted on a plain surface of cloth.
In general , the " Thanka" was used for a portait or picture representating a diety on cloth.
Thankas were used to bolster the visualisations generated during meditation. But sacred paintings were not always inspired by a joyful or pure urge to produce an oject for worship.
